Ortelís Model 3688F Universal Laser Card (ULC) is a directly modulated (DM) 1550 nm transmitter subassembly that is optimized for CATV channel plans. It is designed to support traditional Hybrid Fiber Coax (HFC) applications, however its flexible design supports a variety of other networks such as Fiber-To-The-Premise (FTTP) using Passive Optical Network (PON) architectures.

The Ortel Universal Laser Card Model 3688 family of products is designed to support various CATV transmitter applications with a common platform. A 75W RF video input supports frequencies up to 870 MHz. Integrated within the ULC design is Ortelís patented predistortion technology to provide outstanding performance with any of Ortelís wide range of cooled broadband lasers. A 50W RF input supports frequencies up to 2600 MHz for FTTP, L-Band satellite, and wireless applications.

This RF core is further integrated with DC control electronics into a compact form factor that fits within the most popular transmitter housing form factors, thus providing performance, flexibility, modularity, and efficiency.
