Eclipse VOA-OM010. Solid-state (Transparent Ferroelectric Ceramics) Attenuator.
The Eclipse series of variable optical attenuators (VOA) is available from NZ Applied Technologies Corp. The devices are based on the company's OptoCeramic device technology and packaging. They provide all-solid-state attenuation over the 1530- to 1565-nm range, measure 1.03 x 0.4 x 0.35 in., and allow adjustment of the optical signal strength over the complete 20-dB range in less than 500. The multiwavelength VOA-OM001 is normally opaque at zero applied voltage; the VOA-OM010 is a single-wavelength device that is normally transparent at zero applied voltage. Both models have a -55-dB maximum return loss. The devices are suitable for use by manufacturers of fiber amplifiers, add/drop multiplexers, broadband sources, CATV systems and instrumentation.
